Chefs Guild of Lanka

Established in 1988, the Chefs Guild of Lanka stands as Sri Lanka’s premier association for professional chefs, boasting a membership exceeding 2,000 culinary professionals across more than 180 hotels nationwide. As the country’s first and largest organization dedicated to chefs, it has played a pivotal role in elevating Sri Lanka’s culinary arts on both national and international stages. In 1992, the Guild achieved a significant milestone by becoming the 37th member nation of the World Association of Chefs’ Societies (WACS), a global network of chef associations founded in 1928.

The Guild’s mission encompasses the professional development of chefs and cooks throughout Sri Lanka. This is achieved by focusing on training and development, organizing workshops, and fostering international collaborations to enhance technical knowledge and culinary skills. Additionally, the Guild actively promotes highquality products and culinary innovations, thereby contributing to the growth and recognition of Sri Lanka’s hospitality industry.

WACS (World Association of Chefs' Societies)

The World Association of Chefs’ Societies (Worldchefs) is a dynamic global network of over 110 chef associations, founded in October 1928 at the Sorbonne in Paris. As a leading voice in the hospitality industry, Worldchefs is dedicated to maintaining and improving culinary standards worldwide.

The Chefs Guild of Lanka (CGL), established in 1988, is Sri Lanka’s premier association for professional chefs, representing over 2,000 culinary professionals across more than 180 hotels nationwide. In 1992, CGL became the 37th member nation of Worldchefs, aligning with global culinary standards and practices.
